FESBA is pleased to announce its incorporation into the Business Roundtable of participants in the Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for the jumbo flying squid (Dosidicus gigas). This initiative aims to promote sustainable practices in the fishery of this key species for the fishing industry and the marine ecosystem.
The jumbo flying squid is one of the most important cephalopod species in terms of catch volume and commercialization in the Southeast Pacific. Its responsible exploitation is essential to ensure its long-term sustainability and maintain balance in the marine food chain. The Dosidicus gigas FIP works on implementing improvements in fishery management, collecting scientific data, and promoting best practices in fishing activities.
As part of the Business Roundtable, FESBA strengthens its commitment to sustainability and responsible fishing. Our goal is to collaborate with other industry stakeholders to promote efficient and sustainable management of this fishery, ensuring product traceability and access to markets that value sustainability.
At FESBA, we believe that cooperation between companies, organizations, and governments is key to ensuring that the jumbo flying squid remains a viable resource for future generations. We will continue working in this direction to contribute to the development of a more sustainable and responsible fishing industry.
